That is so great. As a conference organizer and trainer, I understand those contstraints. Your solution-brilliant and one that I think is needed more at conferences!
Congrats,
Ericka
Ericka, yes, you never know what the conference center will allow so you have to be able to go with the flow…and yes, visual maps should be at more conferences. They add a fantastic, engaging element to the whole event.
Talk about thinking on your feet! You came up with a wonderful solution. I would love to go to a conference that had your visual summaries of the sessions I missed available for viewing! And I love that you have a new tool in your toolbox and a readily available solution next time a conference has similar constraints.
Hi Janine, thanks! There were a few moments of wild panic and omg, what have I gotten myself into, but it all worked out in the end. And yes, I love the new tool in my toolbox!
Wow! A definite test for the flexibility gene. But, what a wonderful outcome… for you and the attendees. Thank you for sharing this experience… a great reminder that the flexibility is a key component of any plan!
Ha! The flexibility gene…is that like the art gene? Thankfully I’ve been a yogi for about 12 years so my flexibility comes in handy when I need to use it!
this is fantastic!
i ran a creativity workshop last weekend where the logistics of the space changed from what i am used to and i also found the end result was much better than i would have thought.
here’s to flexibility!
Yay for flexibility!! I love your avatar, cute!
Were the attendees able to interact with the visual maps by adding their own ideas?
Hi Matthew, we did have some flip charts near the strategic planning murals so that people could comment on the vision and direction of the organization, and we got quite a few comments.
It would have been interesting to see how people would annotate visual maps such as this with their own ideas and comments. It would have been a shame though to even consider putting a pen against such great works of visual mapping!
